Dr. John Neumann, D.D.S.
Dr. Neumann began his professional career with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Virginia. However, after experiencing a dental emergency of own he realized just how much a career in dentistry would allow him to help people. He shifted gears, pursuing his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. After 40 years in private practice, he thoroughly enjoys serving his Winchester community and has no intention of retiring.
Dr. Neumann is an experienced leader in dental implants, sedation dentistry, Pinhole™ Surgery and many other modern dental techniques. He believes that the key to delivering exceptional results for his patients is getting the best education available. Not only has he (and the staff) racked up hundreds of hours of training, he’s been putting his extra time to good use keeping up with the latest in dental technology. He currently maintains certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and Automated External Defibrillators, as well as in:

- IV Sedation for Dentistry
His dedication to medical advancements shows not only in the significant number of continuing education hours he’s amassed, but also in the wide variety of programs he’s invested his time in. Learning from many different perspectives can provide a dentist with numerous ways of looking at a problem - it helps our patients every day.
Aside from his ACLS, CPR, and AED certifications, Dr. Neumann has earned many continuing education credit hours from programs through institutions like the Dawson Academy, the Pankey Institute, Professional Education Society, Pikos Institute, and the Chao Pinhole(™) Academy.

Dr. Neumann’s family - his wife, Jenny, their two daughters, Ashley and Nicole, and two golden retrievers - are all happy members of the Winchester community. When not helping one of his patients improve their smile, he may be found traveling, cooking, or practicing his photography. He is also a lifetime member of the Winchester Lions Club.
Amy is one of the dental hygienists at Neumann Family Dentistry. She loves building relationships with patients and helping them better understand how to maintain their dental health. If you have dental anxiety, she definitely understands your concern - she’s been in the seat herself while having various procedures, including a bone biopsy! When she’s not tending your teeth, Amy’s spending time outdoors with her daughters, Hailey and Lily, or relaxing with her dog, Blue, and her cat, Milo.
Anne Marie Cooper
Anne Marie is one of our dental assistants, always ready to stand by the side of her patients. She loves everything about her job and does everything she can to make your experience as pleasant as possible. Outside of the office, she’s swimming, at the beach, reading, or doing things with her husband, Steve, their children, Matthew and Sarah, and the family dog and cat.
Deborah Streit Shifflett
Debbie is a dental assistant at Neumann Family Dentistry and has been with the practice since 1984. What Debbie enjoys most is working with and talking to all of her patients. She has two sons, a grandson, a granddaughter, and her rescue dog, Jasmine, that she could not be put more proud of. She has her Associates degree in agriculture business and in her spare time she enjoys working with plants and animals of all kinds. She also enjoys movies, hiking, reading and crafting.
Patty moved to Winchester, VA from South Philly in 1981 and is a John Handley High School Alumni.
As the office manager Patty ensures that Neumann Family Dentistry runs smoothly for our patients and feels that her most important role is making sure that patients feel like family. She has been with the practice for decades, watching families grow and blossom and supporting them during both the good and the tough times. She works hard to make sure every patient gets the treatment they need.
Patty has completed many business and accounting courses at Lord Fairfax Community College and has certifications and training in:

Patty loves to spend time with her husband and child, taking long walks, volunteering, reading, and dancing.
Sonya Hughes Haynes
Dental hygienist Sonya is the first to admit that she’s truly a people person. She loves educating patients who may be new to dental care or who haven’t been in the office in a while. No shame, she just wants to catch you up on the latest in dental care. Her best advice for dental anxiety is to imagine you’re in your happy place and to take some deep breaths until your fear passes.
Terry is the Office Administrator at Neumann Family Dentistry, and she loves welcoming you to the practice. She’s happy to be one of the first faces you see when you come in and does everything she can to help you feel comfortable from the moment the door opens. When she’s not at work, she’s gardening, shopping, hanging out at the beach or spending time with her grandson, Logan.
